An Investment In Your Child's Future
At Northwood we recognize there are few investments as important as that made in your child's education. The Northwood experience in and out of the classroom is one that is unique and for many students life-changing. The cost of a Northwood education should not deter those families for whom the full tuition would be prohibitive. Northwood's need-based financial aid program allows it to attract the most qualified mission-appropriate students each admission cycle. Below you will find details and useful links about Northwood's financial aid program and near the bottom of the page, a breakdown of Northwood's tuition and fees.
Our financial aid program is designed to provide financial assistance to families whose children might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend Northwood School. This program is need-based and is guided by principles of good practice for financial aid administration. Families are expected to contribute according to their means, taking into account total income, assets, number of dependents, acceptable debt, financial obligations, and other appropriate information. This information is collected via the School and Student Services online platform (Solutions by SSS) and each family's completed Parents' Financial Statement (PFS).
The financial aid application can be completed at:
Financial aid awards are granted for one school year. It is the intention of the school to renew financial aid in each of the following years provided the family continues to demonstrate need, all financial commitments from the previous year are met, and the student remains in good academic and community standing.
Applications for financial aid can be submitted beginning in October 2018 for the 2019-20 academic year. The deadline for financial aid applications is January 31st. Northwood's school code in SSS is 5416.

All students are required to have health insurance which will provide full coverage at local medical facilities. Proof of insurance should be provided by the family as part of the enrollment and registration process. If a family does not have such coverage, they must acquire acceptable coverage. Northwood has worked with an insurance provider for this purpose. The ten month rate is $2,160.
Some athletic offerings will incur an additional fee. These are specific to each offering, but include lift tickets for skiers and hotel costs for longer off-campus trips and any team related gear beyond school issued apparel. For details about specific sports please contact Athletic Director, Gino Riffle at firstname.lastname@example.org
Some weekend activities may have an additional cost which often may be billed to the student account. This might be a trip to the movies ($5) or a ziplining excursion ($30). The cost is variable depending on the activity and there are always free options each weekend as well.
The school offers shuttles to and from Albany airport and train station and Penn Station in NYC at the beginning at end of each break from school (pending student interest). Costs for these shuttles are determined by the number of students utilizing them. It is usually in the $50-90 range each way.
Families can arrange for students to receive some weekly allowance from the Northwood business office to be subtracted from their student account balance. This might be used for a snack in the student center or for an ice cream cone in town. Amounts vary by family.
