The following information is provided to assist families as they estimate and plan for full cost of attendance at Northwood School. Student activity fees help to offset the cost of dorm activities, campus functions, and weekend events.

Northwood requires a $125 room deposit from each boarding student. This deposit will be refunded at the end of the school year as long as the student returns his/her room key and their room has no serious damage.
Student athletic and co-curricular activities are covered by tuition. Some teams or groups may have additional costs for off-campus overnight travel, team apparel, sport specific fees. These fees or additional costs depend on the sport and coaches or program directors can answer any questions relating to their offering.
All Northwood students are required to carry health insurance which will provide adequate care at local medical facilities in the event of injury or illness. Proof of insurance should be provided to the Northwood student health staff. If a family does not have coverage, it must be purchased. Northwood has a relationship with an insurance firm which provides coverage to international students and others. The cost is approximately $2,490 USD for a 12-month plan or $2,260 USD for a 10-month plan .
Spending money or allowance can be managed through the business office and amounts vary greatly by student and family. This can be arranged as a weekly amount to be withdrawn by the student. Amounts range from $10/week to $50/week. This is something to be determined by each family.
Travel expenses for our students vary greatly. Shuttle service is offered at the beginning and end of major breaks during the school year. This shuttle travels from school to Albany International Airport and on to Penn Station in New York City. The shuttle makes the return trip from New York City to Albany and then to Northwood at the end of breaks during the school year. This shuttle is chaperoned both ways by a Northwood faculty member and is contingent on student interest. The cost for this shuttle depends on how many students utilize the offering, but prices range from $50-60 to or from Albany and $100-120 to or from Penn Station.
