Northwood Athletics

Northwood School has a rich tradition of athletics dating back to its founding in 1905. The school's foundational principles include providing its students a setting in which to set and attain personal goals through a balance of rigorous academics, an appreciation for the natural beauty of the Adirondack Mountains, and unique athletic opportunities available in the region. The athletic department and its offerings support these principles in educating our student-athletes to foster their moral, mental, and physical development.

Our Adirondack private school offers students many athletic options across all three seasons. Northwood has been nationally recognized for Boys’ Hockey, Girls’ Hockey, Alpine Skiing, and Freestyle Skiing.  All of our athletic programs, whether interscholastic or recreational, offer each of our students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills while embodying the school's five core values: Responsibility, Respect, Integrity, Compassion, and Courage. Each student is given the chance to reach his or her potential through a wide variety of competitive sports and recreational activities.

All athletic coaches are members of the Northwood faculty. Each one of our coaches is committed to teaching the necessary skills for an individual and team to succeed while fostering personal growth on a daily basis. As a small boarding school, coaches and student-athletes form strong relationships both on and off the playing fields, ice rinks, or ski slopes which will last a lifetime.
