Boys’ Hockey at Northwood School has a long tradition of outstanding achievement; players and coaches have gone on to renowned careers in collegiate, international, and professional ice hockey.
The Northwood School boys’ ice hockey program prides itself on development and exposure in working with each hockey player in giving student/athletes the necessary tools and coaching to reach their full potential.
Northwood fields two boys' ice hockey teams, the Junior Team and the Prep Team. Both teams play 40-50 games in a season with tournaments and games in the United States and Canada. Students are on the ice five to six days a week from the start of October until mid-March. Practices and home games for both teams are played at the Olympic Center in downtown Lake Placid.
Hockey players at Northwood School are on a twelve-month strength and conditioning program, which utilizes our fitness center on campus during the school year. Each player is also introduced to a comprehensive nutrition program for both dining on campus and traveling during the season. Students/athletes have the availability of a full-time athletic trainer and a strength and conditioning coach, to continue their development as individuals and hockey players.
Northwood's combination of a strong academic curriculum and an elite level hockey program offers the ideal prep school setting for an individual looking to develop as a person, student, and hockey player.
