Northwood School Announces New Chairman of the Board of Trustees
Lake Placid, New York, June 29, 2020 - Northwood School announces the appointment of Bradley A. Olch as Chairman of the Board of Trustees replacing Hans L. Carstensen, III. The new Officers of the Board, constituted on June 20, 2020, also consist of Karen Miller, Vice-Chair; Shawn George, Secretary; Hans Carstensen, III, Treasurer; John Reynolds, Finance Committee Chair; as well as At-Large Members, Lew Allyn, and John Taylor.
A Boston native, Olch graduated from Northwood School in 1969. He played football, baseball and skied during his time at Northwood School. Olch joined the Northwood School Board of Trustees in 2012 and was named Northwood’s Distinguished Alumnus in 2019, the highest honor to be bestowed upon an alum, in recognition of his decorated career and life-long loyalty to Northwood School.
“I have been a part of the Northwood community since 1966 and I am honored to have been appointed Chairman of the Northwood School Board of Trustees,” stated Mr. Olch. “I am deeply committed to supporting the school’s vital mission and leading the priorities at hand with our dedicated and experienced Board of Trustees and Head of School.”
Mr. Olch has made a significant impact throughout his diverse career in roles and industries ranging from real estate and resort town management to government and philanthropy. Upon graduation from Northwood School, he attended the University of Denver where he studied real estate and finance. He ultimately settled in Park City, Utah in 1976 to work in real estate. There, he built a tremendous real estate business. He immersed himself in the community, serving on the Planning Commission and City Council before spending 12 years as Mayor. Olch was also pivotal in Utah’s quest to host the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, serving 10 years on the bid committee and then the organizing committee. Brad’s fierce pursuit of open space acquisitions and historic preservation were hallmarks of his time as Mayor. Additionally, he was instrumental in establishing Utah’s first-ever community foundation, Park City Community Foundation, and building it into a multi-million-dollar entity.
