Results of Reopening Plan and Testing Released
Lake Placid, New York, December 2, 2020 - Northwood School has released a summary of the Term 1 reopening plan statistics. The diligence of the Reopening Committee and administrative team alongside the vigilance of the student body and faculty resulted in consistent negative test results over the term.
Term 1 By the Numbers:
August 21, 2020 – November 20, 2020
Faculty, staff and students:
· 63 faculty, administrators and staff
· 45 day-students
· 130 boarding students
· 11 remote students
Reopening Plan Announced: June 23, 2020 with ongoing communications and virtual meetings
· 25+ Northwood Forward communications to students and families

Cohorts: Girls’ Snowsports, Boys’ Snowsports, Girls’ Hockey, Boys’ Hockey, Soccer, Girls’ Independents, Boys’ Independents
Onboarding, Quarantine and Testing:
· 14-day Quarantine: August 24 – September 7
· Pre-Arrival Tests (within 5 days of arrival): 165 day and boarding students negative
o Only 3% without a valid test sent to off campus quarantine location until results of the arrival day test
· · Assurance Testing: 70 employees (including vendors, contractors, outside coaches, other), 45 day, and 130 boarding students
o Partners: Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard University, 36-48 hours results

· Sept. 4 / Sept. 7
o Results: 726 total tests – all negative
· Virtual classes: Thursday and Friday, Sept. 3 and 4
· In-person classes: Sept. 7 - Nov. 19 (first trimester) (54 days)
· Ongoing health and wellness: daily health screenings, new health center, onsite infirmary, four nurses on staff, two medical directors, student psychologist, fitness and outdoor time, safety protocols, closed campus, and ongoing testing.
· Surveillance tests – weekly % tested– all negative
· Overall - 1336 total tests
