Trevor Gilligan ’03 Appointed Northwood School Athletic Director

Six New Hires Heighten the Athletic Department

Northwood School administration announces the appointment of Trevor Gilligan '03 to Athletic Director and new hires and transitions within the Athletics department.

Gilligan assumes responsibility for the Athletic department from Gino Riffle, who has transitioned to Director of Admission. Gilligan will continue in his role as Head of Girls' Hockey.

Gilligan is a North Country native and has worked at Northwood in various roles for twelve years, in two different stints. His primary focus has been coaching hockey and took over the Girls' program in 2019, leading them to a 56-25-10 record over the last two years. In between his time at Northwood, Gilligan was the Head Coach at SUNY Canton, leading the men's hockey team's transition to the NCAA Division III level.

"I am thrilled and honored to be the next Athletic Director at Northwood School," states Gilligan. "Northwood has always been a second home for me, and I can't wait to help build on our long-standing athletic tradition of excellence."

New to Northwood and the Athletic department: Trent Durocher, hockey coach and strength & conditioning coach, Justin Felhaber, English teacher, and hockey coach; Simon Shergold, Humanities teacher, and soccer coach; Tommy Biesemeyer, Director of Alpine Skiing; Bobby O'Connor, Northwood Outing Club Director; and, Mark Morris, head coach boys' hockey.

"Trevor's skill set and track record for success set the stage for our Athletic Department," states Michael Maher, Head of School. "Alongside Trevor, the new coaches and faculty will enhance the overall Northwood experience for our student-athletes, with Gino Riffle continuing to assist with recruitment and bringing talented students to the Northwood team."
