Northwood School Ski Initiative

Here at Northwood, we focus on providing our student-athletes with the support to succeed in the classroom, on the slopes, and beyond.  As a ski program, we have several key competitive advantages that accelerate our student-athletes and provide the footing for alumni achievements at the highest level. To continue to ensure we have the tools to support a competitive program at an elite level, Northwood is commencing an effort to raise $500,000 that would offer the development of a state-of-the-art technical center for its athletes with high-level technical support for ski racing.

The current plan foresees a two-phase build-out to be completed by the summer of 2022. Phase one would be the acquisition of the Wintersteiger Jupiter tuning machine. The Wintersteiger Jupiter is used at the highest World Cup level. It allows high precision, micro-adjustable base, side edge grinding/tuning, and base structure setting.  Phase one of the campaign would support this new machine.

Phase two would build out the existing ski building with an increased footprint and final home for the Wintersteiger Jupiter offering additional ski tuning equipment, new benches, and storage facilities.  The technical center is to be run by an experienced technician, backed by invaluable experience from Northwood and NYSEF coaches.

Northwood School has a long-standing partnership with “gold-certified club” NYSEF. Northwood and NYSEF athletes would benefit from having access to the tech center and professional expertise in getting high-precision race tuning. Student-athletes will also stand to gain a better understanding of the technical aspects of ski racing.

As part of an early-stage fundraising effort, we invite your questions, thoughts, and interest in being part of this initiative.  Please know that our student-athletes have incredible resilience and dedication to the sport of ski racing.

Thank you in advance for considering how you might help us reach our goal and bring this vision to reality.

Thank you for your support.
