A Personalized Approach to Education
Northwood School believes in a personalized approach to each students' educational journey. To that end, Northwood offers a challenging core curriculum which emphasizes preparation for college coursework in a supportive and structured setting. Building on the core curriculum to allow students to explore areas of specific interest or to try courses within several Signature Academic Programs. This provides Northwood students with first-hand learning experiences to help develop and deepen their interests in specific subject areas.
The academic program at our boarding school is designed to strengthen our students' intellectual abilities and promote character development. Faculty members use a variety of techniques to ensure that courses are student-centered. An average class size around ten (10) allows for a personalized approach to each students' education and for Northwood faculty to accommodate learners with varying styles. The involvement of residential faculty in the lives of Northwood students extends beyond the classroom. Faculty members play multiple roles at Northwood, such as advisor, coach and dorm parent. Our goal is to provide students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to navigate the unique challenges of the twenty-first century.
