Clubs & Organizations

An Activity For Everyone

The Student Life Office works with the Student Activities Committee and Student Leaders to plan and coordinate events throughout the year. Northwood students from all classes are encouraged to become part of the Student Activities Committee.

Students have the opportunity to participate in many extracurricular activities and clubs at school. While some of the clubs have been informally operating for years, clubs as a student-driven initiative began in 2015 and meet on Monday afternoons of the winter schedule.

Active Clubs & Organizations on Campus Include:

  • Drama Club
  • Sustainability Club
  • Multicultural Student Club
  • CARE - Northwood's Community Service Club
  • Student Activities Committee
  • Food Committee
  • Gay-Straight Alliance
  • Investment Club
  • Blue Key Society
  • National Honor Society

Students are encouraged to develop and create additional clubs according to their interests. Faculty are available to serve as club advisors.

Northwood also offers a robust schedule of recreational activities each weekend.

Some popular offerings include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Friday night movie bus
  • Dodgeball tournaments in the gym
  • Trips to Burlington, Vermont and Plattsburgh, New York
  • Adirondack excursions for hiking, kayaking, ziplining, & rock climbing
  • Visits to local orchards
  • Concerts and events at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts

Additionally, students have the opportunity to take advantage of living in the Olympic Village of Lake Placid, the center of the Adirondack Park. Students may sign out with the Dean of Student's office to enjoy dinner or shopping in town with friends. We also offer weekly "jitney runs" (grocery trips) so that students can pick up snacks or other personal items they need.
