Seeking Records of Northwood Vietnam Veterans

Honoring our Vietnam Veterans

I had a great chat last week with Northwood alumnus and retired Colonel David Husing ’62 from Bayville, N.Y.  Colonel Husing served in The Vietnaam War as a member of the Eleventh Armored Calvary Regiment under the command of Gen. George S. Patton, the son of the famous World War Two general. Col. Husing spoke of the plaque we have in the living room honoring Northwood’s veterans of World War II and noted the absence of a similar memorial tablet for our Vietnam veterans.  After the call, I spoke to Head of School, Mike Maher, who agreed that such recognition of those who served in that war was long overdue. Col. Husing has generously offered to fund a memorial plaque. Northwood’s records of the military careers of our graduates are limited.  Hence, this plea for information on those veterans who served there in any branch of the military in the sixties and seventies. Our goal is to craft a plaque that is as complete and accurate as possible.  For that, we need your help. Please contact Steve Reed at 518-524-8692 with the names and class years of any Northwood alumni who served in that war.
